The Schwinn 430 Elliptical Trainer – Compact,
Great Value
The Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer is getting
surprising reviews from consumers across the country. This compact little
machine is a scaled down, budget elliptical made by Nautilus and sold under the
Schwinn name.
Although Nautilus has run into some problems over the last few years, they seem
to
have hit their stride with the Schwinn line. In fact, the Schwinn 430 elliptical
trainer is one of the best selling budget ellipticals on the market and
customers are consistently praising its performance.
The Schwinn 430 Delivers on its Promise
When this front flywheel elliptical first hit the market,
people were skeptical, but this is one basic elliptical that gives plenty of
bang for minimal bucks. At less than six hundred dollars, the front flywheel is
extremely durable and hefty and the small footprint makes it ideal for an
apartment or any room where space is at a premium. If you’re looking for a
solid, reliable elliptical that can easily be tucked into a corner but you
aren’t long on cash, the Schwinn 430 is a good choice. Transport wheels mean you
can use it every day and move it out of the way with ease.

The Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer delivers on its promise to
provide a good basic workout you can rely on. Yes, it’s a stripped down
elliptical trainer, but it’s a dependable one. You get sixteen levels of
resistance and eight programs, which is plenty for the beginner, and will
satisfy many intermediate users. The eddy current brake system is also a plus,
and gives you a smooth, even stop that won’t jar your joints.
There are a few disappointments, such as the display console. The design is very
basic and it can be difficult to read due to a lack of lighting, and there are
very few extras. Consider the Schwinn 430 a stripped-down elliptical trainer
that will give you a good workout without lots of variation. Yes, you’ll get the
exercise you need, but it may not be as varied or as interesting as you’d like
it to be. If you’re looking for tons of programs, you’ll need to move up to a
higher price point.
The Schwinn 430’s 18" stride and articulating foot plates are features that are
typical of pricier elliptical trainers, which will give most users enough
comfort for typical daily workouts. If you’re extremely tall or you like a
longer stride, you may feel a bit cramped. The moving handlebars will give you
an upper body workout while you’re walking, and you can quickly check your pulse
heart rate with the handle grip pulse monitor.
Like the Schwinn 420, the Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer gets lots of positive
feedback in elliptical reviews as a great budget machine, with the only drawback
being the limited warranty. But let’s be honest, at this price, you’re getting
very good value even with the limited coverage.
